"Fight The Empire!"

In her rallying speech to catalyze rebellion, Maarva reflects on how life under Imperial rule had lulled everyone into passivity and complacency through routine and modest comforts afforded by the system of subsistence living under the Empire, blinding them to the broader evils they were enabling. By the time those dangers became so extreme and impossible to ignore, it was basically too late to act.

Too long have we similarly acclimated to injustice and atrocity, allowing oppressors to thrive on our silence and neutrality.

Imperialist aggression is more of a global threat than ever, intensifying around the world, taking the form of fascist right wing cult dictators, authoritarian imperialists, and religious extremist war criminals. They seek territorial expansion, geopolitical dominance, and have no regard for international U.N. law.

Financial power fuels this entire totalitarian ethos: through inner-circle dealings over money, resources, technology, geopolitical backing, and weaponization; buying one another off to further entrench each other’s power and grip over the world; buying and controlling the media to wage relentless propaganda on vulnerable minds in order to obtain and retain power; and buying politicians to serve their interests and crush Democratic function from the system.

We must fight back, intelligently; finding our role, however large or small, and assuming it.

Fight through Understanding. Be aware of their actions, and the extent to which they actively dismantle our democratic, legal, media, educational, and regulatory systems. Learn the propaganda games they play. Speak out and make others aware.

Fight through targeted organized Boycotts, which can hurt these fascists financially, hurt who they’re funded by, and the resources they use to do what they do.

Fight through targeted organized General Strikes, to stop the flow of capital. Organize a nationwide general strike, that has a concrete list of demands to fundamentally change the system, in addition to stopping immediate fascist actions occurring. Mass organizing at that scale, with millions risking their livelihoods, and basically shutting society down, it has got to count toward larger Structural changes which eliminate these systemic avenues for corruption and fascism at their roots.

Demands could be eliminating lobbying and Citizens United; two critically corrupting mechanisms within our political structure effectively allowing Capitalists to bribe politicians and “buy” seats of power. Another could be Sustainability Laws setting strict caps on emissions and deadlines. 

These are historic times. We face grave simultaneous crises — fascism, climate change, world wars. We must meet reality and respond to both its challenges and its promise for a better age.

No more can we sleep in apathy, avoiding our problems, letting humanity just slip through our fingers. We should wake up now, wake up early, and “Fight the Empire!”

Critical Cohesion

In a time where new hybrid movements seem to flash up every single day; where special interest causes abound due to the many different, yet connected problems we face; consolidating ourselves and maintaining cohesion in the activist community is critical.  Given that society is a deep, complex synergy of social, biological, economic, environmental, and technical factors; engaging platforms that are holistically thinking facilitates more complete and relevant understandings. The problems out there share a common systemic source, and have common systemic solutions. Ideas and concepts are realized in their full implications within the context of others. There’s a natural synergy of understanding when things are brought together, conceptually. Look Up!

Just the two hottest days on Earth in over 100,000 years this week that's all, as the globe heats up and becomes unlivable.  Our sauntering collective “path to zero emissions by 2050” is nonsense and harmful. So too is simply escaping to remote communes, planting trees, growing food in our backyards, or any other matter of escapism and "personal responsibility" as any kind of complete solution to this existential threat. We can't live in a fantasy, we need to start taking environmental sustainability seriously. Society needs Industrial level change at this critical point - hard caps on emissions, with binding pass/fail laws that are enforceable and severely punishable. To do this we need to target systemic change at the political structure of human decision making itself; gutting money from politics to fundamentally delink Capitalist control over society, to be able to accrue necessary political power, in order to pass Sustainability laws as soon as possible.
